Contrary to Axel Voss's assertion, my opinion (as engineer and artist) is that the TDM exceptions are really designed to facilitate innovation while allowing rights holders to opt out, thereby maintaining control over their works. This exemption explicitly aims to encourage innovation and research, not to undermine creators. The allegation that copyright protection is unenforceable under current legislation overlooks the robust tools already provided by the EU's enforcement framework —creators retain their rights, and infringements remain actionable when substantial misuse occurs. Rather than creating a dangerous loophole, the current legal framework reasonably balances protecting creators with facilitating technological innovation, and additional rigid restrictions could stifle rather than support creative industries.
